From the Airport to MC Donald's
After all, at least the airport shuttle is a rather fast and cheap connection to the airport, where I met my secret visitor.
She is here on an undercover mission to find the greatest sight in whole Beijing - I think she just found it... and its not the lamb stick in the picture...
It is maybe the Tiananmen sqare ;-) aka. the Gate of Heavenly Peace; with more than 40 hectare in size it is the worlds biggest public plaza. My highlight here was it to pay my old friend Zedong the last respect, as he has a tiny little mausoleum aka. Maosoleum on the place.
After we inspected all the little details on the plaza, like the monuments of people's hereos, the Olympic exibition and the Maosoleum we went to Wanfujing - main shopping centre and night market.
I am really sorry but today no scorpion wanted to be eaten by me, so again this has to be posponed. Even more worrying is that there were no testicals at all today - and that as my visitor was so much wanting to try some :-( So instead we just had some "normal" stuff. However that was apparently not normal enough for the first day in Beijing. Meanwhile MC Donald's it was.
Li-Ning
As our marketing group now is maybe dealing with some Chinese brands I become more sensible for producs and nemes here. (Just check out the yogurt brand from yesterdays post) At the shopping centre I saw the big Chinese sportswear shop "Li-Ning" named after the founder, who ignited the flame at the Olympics opening ceremony (wow!).
The slogan of Li-Ning is "Anything is possible". Does that sound familiar to you? Maybe because anouther big player in sportswear is tagging with the slogan: "Impossible is nothing". So, what. Nobody - at least not me - knows who was first and some claim that adidas "copied" the slogan from Li-Ning. I don't know. Do YOU?
(So, busy sightseeing days began :-)) Good night - good fight!
