Day two - Arrival

After a 6 - 7 hours flight from Dubai I touched today Chinese ground - I dived more or less into the smog of the city. After my Passport control and a little train tour to the baggage return I got through a last security check, changed my money, got a "paper bag" water from a water cooler and got me a taxi. The taxi driver understood absolutely no English - so I just showed him the address and with the help of a dictionary I figured out the approximately price. (101 Yuan incl. Highway fee) The taximeter was running all the time and the guy was friendly and showed that to me by a pleased burping out.
The city is really big! And OLYMPIA is still overall....
At Renmin University my Buddy Jane met me and showed my my present room. After some negotiation the receptionist made a good price for that "lousy" quality. Bathroom - if one can call it so is a shower integrated toilette without toilette seat. The water was cold as I just showered and my room is small, smelly, and paper walled - my (so far) unknown neighbors are having sex since one hour and they are trying to drown it with telly on maximum - It's not working guys!
After I kind of checked in Jane, a friend of her and me got something to eat. They thought I might don't like it but that was just not the case. So: No fear of Chinese food. During this meal we discussed all the Chinese eating clichees. From dogs to snakes and I discovered that it can't be so dramatically. We closed the evening with a walk through the near mall (just like every luxury mall else) and the big campus arrea with people doing dances, skating, badminton etc. Finally I made a good bargain at the campus shop and got 8 l water for 14 Yuan ;-) and to make my day even better one of my neighbors offered my to use his shower because the shared one on the floor is just crap ;-)
